Best Dog-friendly Camping Locations

When you take your canine companion along on a camping trip, you’ll feel more at home wherever you go. Dogs love to explore the great outdoors, whether they’re running through a forest, traipsing beside you on a leisurely canalside stroll, or racing up hills.

But not every campsite is dog-friendly, so it’s best to check before you travel. And we’ll make it easier for you with this list of the five best dog-friendly camping sites in the UK.

West Runton Club Site, Norfolk

West Runton Club Site in Norfolk is located near to West Runton, a quiet seaside village. It features showers, a motorhome service point, storage facilities, a grass pitch with electric hook-up, and more.

You can take your furry best friend for a walk along the local beach, take a mile-long wander or drive to the 300ft Beach Hill, and explore nearby Cromer..

The Meadows, Cornwall

Cornwall is a beautiful part of the UK, offering more places to see and things to do than you can fit into any camping holiday. And the Meadows Campsite is located in South Cornwall, close to plenty of stunning spots.

The Meadows Campsite is within walking distance of the Lost Gardens of Heligan, one of the UK’s most popular botanical gardens. Multiple beaches are fairly close by, too, including Carolyn Bay, Par Sands, and Caerhays.

But you’ll need to look elsewhere if you’re travelling with kids, as the Meadows Campsite is adults-only.

Old Oaks, Somerset

This family-run campsite is also known as a glamping destination if you want something a little less “down to earth”. You’ll be surrounded by the gorgeous Somerset countryside, so there are plenty of dog walking opportunities.

Old Oaks’ overall quality has earned it numerous awards, including the AA Platinum Award.

Setthorns Campsite, New Forest

This dog-friendly camping location has 235 pitches for tents, motorhomes, and caravans, so you can camp however you like! Setthorns Campsite offers privacy and many paths to give you a fresh dog-walking adventure every day.

The village of Sway is based a mile and a half away, while you can reach picturesque Brockenhurst if you travel a little bit further. New Forest Wildlife Park and Paulton’s Family Theme Park are local attractions, too.

Woodside Country Park, West Midlands

There are numerous trails to walk and longer Herefordshire Trail runs around the park’s opposite perimeter, if you and your dog feel up to the challenge!
